Responsibilities
The Grade 1 to Grade 8 History and Geography Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons in line with the school's curriculum, teaching students Ghanaian and world history, geography, map reading, and environmental studies using practical and interactive methods. The teacher must prepare lesson notes, schemes of work, worksheets, and teaching aids, regularly give and assess homework, classwork, tests, and examinations while maintaining accurate academic records and providing extra support to struggling students. He/She is expected to maintain classroom discipline and a positive learning environment, foster critical thinking and cultural appreciation, prepare upper primary students for exams, collaborate with parents and colleagues, attend staff meetings and school programs, and carry out any other duties assigned by management to ensure students' academic progress and well-being.
Requirements & Skills
- Degree in Education, History, Geography, or Social Studies.
- Minimum 2 years of proven teaching experience at the basic school level.
- Excellent knowledge of history/geography and world history/geography.
- Ability to teach both lower primary (Grade 1-3) and upper primary/JHS (Grade 4-8) with age-appropriate methods.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to use maps, charts, visuals, and practical activities to make lessons engaging.
- Must be computer literate and able to prepare lesson notes and exams.
- Must be punctual, disciplined, patient, passionate about teaching, and a good role model for children.
- Must be resident around Tema Community 11.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Degree in Education, History, Geography, or Social Studies.
