Operations Manager

Operational Leadership: Direct the daily running of combined dry cargo and petroleum operations, overseeing route planning, load allocation, and dispatch to ensure on-time deliveries and SLA compliance. Fleet & Port Management: Ensure disciplined dispatch and trip closure for the 130-unit fleet while managing rapid truck turnaround and container clearance at Tema Harbour (MPS, GJT, T2). Fuel Management: Take direct accountability for the Fuel Control Register (FCR) by enforcing consumption benchmarks, monitoring telematics, and aggressively investigating and halting pilferage. Asset Stewardship: Maintain a fully updated asset register, enforce accessory accountability, and drive a structured preventive maintenance schedule to maximize vehicle uptime. Financial Oversight: Partner with Finance to own the operational budget, manage working capital exposure, and optimize spending on fuel, tyres, spares, and route levies. Logistics expertise: deep working knowledge of long-distance haulage, tema port container clearance, and ghanaian road transport regulations (npa, bost, dvla, epa). Financial acumen: ability to interpret p&l statements, manage operational budgets, build business cases, and fiercely control operational costs. Fuel & asset control: proven success in implementing fuel control systems, anti-pilferage measures, and preventive maintenance regimes across a large fleet. Technical fluency: high proficiency with gps tracking, fleet telematics, driver behavior monitoring, and data analysis tools like excel or power bi. Contract & risk management: strong ability to negotiate slas, manage vendor agreements, maintain operational risk registers, and enforce hsse (health, safety, security, and environment) standards. Behavioral traits: decisive under pressure, uncompromising on ethical and safety standards, commercially driven, and a dedicated coach for middle management.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience: At least 10 years of progressive experience in commercial transport, haulage, or large-scale logistics operations. Leadership: A minimum of 5 years in a senior management role with full operational and P&L accountability. Scale: Proven experience managing a fleet of 50+ heavy commercial vehicles in a long-distance haulage environment. Licensing: A valid Ghanaian driving licence.
