The problems with which a mathematician may have to deal require a great variety of special tables and formulae. A number of those included in this book will be familiar to mathematicians, and are already widely used. In presenting them in a convenient form the opportunity has been taken to supplement them with a selection of others, chosen as likely also to be of value, though possibly not accessible elsewhere. The authors' experiences of the problems arising in practical research were used as the basis for selecting from among those tables and formulae which from time to time have been used for special purposes. We are confident that the coverage will suffice for most general purposes in schools, colleges and industry.
In compiling the tables account was taken of SI Units, where applicable.
