In the farming community of Sesemi in Abokobi, Ghana, my mom and I started a breeding farm for pigs with the aim of selling live ones and pork too. We had a thought that pig breeding is an old but growing specialty market in rural and urban Ghana where meat could be sold to regional restaurants, food markets as well as standard meat businesses. So in 2020, we started our animal farm on a land we were given by the king of the community. SilverWealth Farms Ltd. started in Feb. 2020 with just two boars which were about 3months old but still had to mature several months before their estrus, delaying for a further time the 1st round of a three to four month breeding cycle. In the latter months of 2021, my mom and I managed to raise about 45 pigs in total, ranging from two days to four months old
