Headteacher

A Headteacher's role can be remembered under six key areas: LEAD → TEACH → MANAGE → DEVELOP → PROTECT → ACCOUNT Lead the school, support teaching and learning, manage people and resources, develop staff and pupils, protect their welfare, and remain accountable for the school's performance.

1. School Leadership and Administration Provide overall leadership and direction for the school. Develop and implement the school's vision, goals, and improvement plans. Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the school. Ensure effective use of school time and resources. Supervise both teaching and non-teaching staff. 2. Academic and Instructional Supervision Ensure effective teaching and learning. Monitor lesson preparation, lesson delivery, assessment, and record keeping. Supervise implementation of the approved curriculum. Monitor pupils' academic progress and take steps to improve performance. Encourage innovative and effective teaching methods. 3. Staff Management and Development Assign duties and responsibilities to teachers and other staff. Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, performance, and professional conduct. Support and mentor teachers to improve their professional practice. Organise or facilitate staff meetings and professional development activities. Promote teamwork
