Gardener and School Compound Caretaker

Responsibilities * Maintain lawns, gardens, flower beds, trees and plants. * Water plants and ensure gardens are properly cared for. * Keep the school compound, walkways and indoor and outdoor areas clean and tidy. * Sweep outdoor areas and remove leaves, branches, weeds and other rubbish. * Maintain school gardens and outdoor learning/play areas. * Assist with setting up and maintaining outdoor spaces for school activities and events. * Carry out basic maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, painting and fixing garden items where appropriate. * Keep gardening tools and equipment clean, safe and properly stored. * Identify and report broken equipment, leaks, damaged fences, electrical hazards or other maintenance concerns. * Help maintain a safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors. * Dispose of garden waste appropriately. * Support other reasonable compound maintenance duties

Requirements * Basic education or equivalent practical experience. * Previous experience in gardening, groundskeeping, cleaning or general maintenance is an advantage. * Physically fit and able to work outdoors. * Able to use basic gardening tools and equipment safely. * Reliable, punctual and hardworking. * Good personal hygiene and neat appearance. * Able to follow instructions and school safety procedures. * Trustworthy and responsible when working around children and school property. * Must be willing to work as part of a school team.

Preferred Qualifications * Certificate, apprenticeship or training in gardening, agriculture, landscaping or a related area is an advantage. * At least 1–2 years of relevant work experience is preferred.
