For Honda CR-V models from 2016 to 2025, there are typically two oxygen (O2) sensors per engine bank: an Upstream (Sensor 1) and a Downstream (Sensor 2). These sensors are generally not interchangeable.
Comparison and Locations
Upstream (Sensor 1): Often called an Air-Fuel (A/F) Ratio sensor, it is located before the catalytic converter. It measures exhaust gases directly from the engine to help the computer adjust the fuel mixture.
Downstream (Sensor 2): Located after the catalytic converter. Its primary role is to monitor the converter's efficiency.
