TED stockings (Thrombo-Embolic Deterrent stockings) are used to prevent blood clots in the legs, especially in patients who are immobile or after surgery.
• They apply gentle, graduated pressure to improve blood flow in the veins.
• Help reduce swelling and prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
• Worn on the legs, usually from the foot to just below the knee or thigh.
They are preventive, not treatment, and should be correctly sized and worn as prescribed.
