A blood lancet is a medical tool used for a finger-stick or capillary blood sampling to obtain a small amount of blood for diagnostic and monitoring purposes, most commonly by people with sugar related disease to check their blood glucose levels. The lancet, a sharp point or blade, is housed in a lancing device and is used to puncture the skin, creating a small incision. The collected blood can then be applied to a test strip for various tests, such as glucose, hemoglobin, or other blood components.
