Responsibilities of a Vulcaniser A vulcaniser is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and servicing vehicle tyres and tubes to ensure safety and proper performance. Main Responsibilities Inspect tyres for punctures, wear, cuts, and damage Repair punctured tyres and tubes using vulcanizing tools and materials Remove and fix tyres on rims Balance and align tyres when necessary Replace worn-out or damaged tyres Check and maintain proper tyre pressure Inspect wheel rims for cracks or damage Rotate tyres for even wear Provide roadside tyre assistance when needed Ensure wheel nuts are properly tightened and secure Maintain vulcanizing equipment and tools Advise customers on tyre maintenance and safety Keep the work area clean and organized Follow safety procedures while handling tools and machinery Skills Required Knowledge of tyre repair techniques Ability to use vulcanizing machines and tyre tools Physical strength and attention to detail Good problem-solving skills Customer service and

Minimum Qualification Requirements for a Vulcaniser Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) or Junior High School certificate is usually preferred Ability to read and understand basic instructions and safety procedures Vocational or apprenticeship training in tyre repair/vulcanizing is an advantage Basic knowledge of vehicle tyres and wheel systems Physical fitness and ability to handle heavy tyres and equipment Good communication and teamwork skills Prior experience in tyre repair or auto workshop environment is an added advantage Additional Advantages Training in occupational health and safety Experience using tyre balancing and alignment machines Customer service skills Valid driver’s license (optional but beneficial)
