Wood Working Machine Operators

Operate woodworking machinery and power tools used in the production of doors, cabinets, and other wooden products. Measure, cut, shape, drill, assemble, and finish wood and wood-based materials according to approved designs and specifications. Set up, adjust, and safely operate woodworking machines including saws, planers, routers, sanders, drilling machines, and other production equipment. Construct and assemble doors, cabinets, frames, panels, shelves, and other wooden components with accuracy and precision. Prepare wooden surfaces through sanding, filling, cleaning, and priming before painting or finishing. Mix and apply paints, stains, lacquers, varnishes, and other finishing materials using spray guns and appropriate equipment. Ensure consistent color, texture, coating, and finishing quality across all products.

Proficiency in operating woodworking machinery and power tools. Strong carpentry and woodwork skills. Good knowledge of door, cabinet, furniture, and wooden component production. Ability to accurately measure, cut, shape, drill, and assemble wood materials. Knowledge of sanding, surface preparation, painting, spraying, and finishing techniques. Ability to operate and maintain spray guns and related finishing equipment. Good understanding of different wood types, boards, adhesives, paints, stains, lacquers, and finishing materials. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Minimum of WASSCE/SSCE, NVTI, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Carpentry, Woodwork, Furniture Production, Joinery, or a related field. A technical/vocational certificate in woodworking, carpentry, furniture production, or related discipline will be an added advantage. Minimum of 2 years’ practical experience in door, cabinet, furniture, or general wood production. Practical experience in woodworking machine operation, carpentry, assembly, sanding, spraying, and finishing is required.
