SFTP stands for Shielded Foiled Twisted Pair. It is a type of Ethernet cable that combines two types of shielding to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) and crosstalk.
1.Overall Foil Shielding (F) – A thin layer of aluminum foil wraps around all the twisted pairs to block external interference.
2.Individual Pair Shielding (S) – Each twisted pair has an additional layer of shielding, typically braided or foil-wrapped, for extra protection.
Key Features:
Better performance in noisy environments (e.g. industrial areas, data centers)
•Less signal interference and crosstalk than UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair)
Supports high-speed networking (1 Gbps, 10 Gbps depending on the category)
More expensive and less flexible than UTP.
