The Tiger Barb is a lively and colorful freshwater fish that is popular in aquariums. It usually grows to about 2-3 inches long and is known for its striking orange body with bold black vertical stripes, resembling a tiger’s pattern. Tiger Barbs are active and social fish that prefer to live in groups of at least six to reduce aggression. They thrive in tanks with plenty of swimming space, moderate water flow, and a temperature range of about 74-79°F (23-26°C). While generally peaceful, they can be a bit nippy, especially towards long-finned or slow-moving fish. Their diet is omnivorous, including flakes, pellets, and live or frozen foods like bloodworms or brine shrimp.
