Chow Mein Noodles: stir fried noodles
Add your own fresh ingredients to the noodles and make the dish as spicy as you like. With strips of stir-fried chicken, steak, large shrimps, fish or leftover pork, some (Chinese) mushrooms and/or finely chopped fresh vegetables, you can put an Asian-tinted dish on the table in no time at all.
To make a vegetarian chow mein use (more) mushrooms and possibly pieces of tofu. What mainly distinguishes chow mein from Indonesian bami (bami goreng) is the use of a number of typical Chinese seasonings: ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil and shaoxing.
