C250 Door Switch (Mercedes-Benz)
Function:
The door switch detects whether the door is open or closed and sends this info to the car’s electronics to control:
Interior dome lights
• Door ajar warnings on the dashboard
• Central locking system
• Alarm system activation/deactivation Location:
• Usually in the door frame near the latch or inside the door latch mechanism
• Can be:
• Plunger-type button
• Magnetic/proximity sensor (newer models)
Symptoms of a Faulty Door Switch:
1. Interior lights stay on even when the door is closed
2. Door ajar warning stays on
3. Central locking malfunctions
4. Alarm system false-triggers or fails to arm
5. Trunk/boot sensor issues (if integrated)
Replacement Tips:
• Use OEM replacement for proper compatibility
• Disconnect the battery
