Omankwa is an improved, drought-tolerant, Open Pollinated Variety (OPV) of maize commonly grown in Ghana, designed to increase food security and improve yields for farmers. Developed by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Crops Research Institute (CRI), this maize variety is recognized for its high protein content, drought tolerance, and resistance to striga, a parasitic weed.
