A 12-channel ECG (electrocardiograph) machine is a medical device used to record the heart’s electrical activity from 12 different perspectives (leads) at the same time
This type of ECG provides the most complete standard evaluation of heart rhythm and electrical conduction
Key Points
Purpose: Detects and monitors heart conditions such as arrhythmias, myocardial infarction (heart attack), conduction abnormalities, and other cardiac disorders
How it works: Ten electrodes are placed on specific spots on the patient’s chest and limbs. The machine simultaneously captures the electrical signals and produces 12 different lead tracings, each representing a different “view” of the heart
Output: Prints or displays a multi-lead ECG graph showing the P wave, QRS complex, and T wave for diagnostic interpretation
