ITS MAIN FUNCTIONS:
1. Protects the driver during a collision – Inflates rapidly to cushion the driver’s head, chest, neck, and upper body from hitting the steering wheel.
2.Reduces the risk of serious injuries – Helps minimize injuries such as head trauma, facial injuries, and chest injuries during an impact.
3. Works with the seat belt – Complements the seat belt by providing additional protection and helping distribute crash forces more evenly.
4. Improves overall vehicle safety – Enhances occupant protection and increases the chances of surviving a severe crash with fewer injuries.
WHY IT MUST BE REPLACED?
A steering airbag must be replaced after deployment, damage, or malfunction because it is designed for one-time use and may not provide protection in a future collision if it is defective or already deployed.
