The car pressure plate clamps the clutch disc against the engine's flywheel using integrated springs. This friction connection transfers engine torque to the transmission. When you press the clutch pedal, the pressure plate releases its grip to let you change gears.
Main Functions
• Power Transfer: Rotates with the flywheel and presses the clutch disc tightly to send power into the gearbox.
• Disengagement: Relieves pressure when the release bearing pushes its spring fingers, allowing smooth gear changes.
• Vibration Dampening: Absorbs sudden shocks and helps smooth out the connection when you let go of the Diaphragm Springs: Use a single circular spring. They need less foot effort and are common in modern cars.
• Coil Springs: Use multiple metal springs. They offer a stronger clamping grip and appear in older or heavy-duty trucks.
