A car engine seat (commonly called an engine mount or motor mount) physically secures the engine and transmission to the vehicle's frame or subframe.
Main Functions
• Secures the Engine: It holds the heavy engine firmly in place so it does not shift, tilt, or bounce around violently when you accelerate, brake, or turn.
• Absorbs Vibrations: It uses rubber, polyurethane, or fluid-filled chambers to trap and dampen mechanical vibrations created by the running engine.
• Reduces Noise and Harshness (NVH): By isolating the metal engine from the metal car body, it stops engine shaking and loud noises from traveling into the cabin.
• Maintains Alignment: It keeps the engine properly aligned with the transmission, exhaust system, and drive belts, preventing premature wear and tear on those connected parts.
