The car clutch disk (or clutch plate) sits between the engine's flywheel and the pressure plate. Its primary function is to transfer engine torque to the transmission input shaft when engaged, and to disconnect that power flow when disengaged.
Power Transmission: Grip-lined friction surfaces clamp tightly against the flywheel, passing rotational force from the engine through the central splined hub to the gearbox.
• Smooth Gear Shifting: Disengaging the disk (by pressing the clutch pedal) temporarily cuts off engine torque to the transmission, allowing you to change gears without grinding or damaging the gears
