Automotive terminology, "clutch pots" (frequently called a clutch master cylinder or clutch slave cylinder, or locally referred to in spare parts markets like Abossey Okai as a clutch pump/port) are the hydraulic units that control a manual car's clutch system.
Function of the Clutch Master Cylinder ("Upper Pot")
• Converts Foot Pressure: When you step on the clutch pedal, a pushrod forces a piston inside the master cylinder to convert your mechanical foot movement into hydraulic pressure.
• Sends Fluid: It pushes hydraulic (brake) fluid through the hydraulic lines down toward the transmission.
• Stores Fluid: It features a small integrated or attached reservoir to keep the hydraulic system full and compensate for minor fluid loss.
