The car lower arm (lower control arm) connects the vehicle's frame or subframe to the lower steering knuckle or wheel hub, supporting the main weight and dynamic forces of the suspension.
Main Functions
• Wheel Guidance: Holds the bottom of the wheel in the proper alignment and angle while letting it move up and down over bumps.
• Load Support: Carries most of the vehicle's weight and suspension loads compared to the upper arm.
• Force Resistance: Absorbs hard sideways (lateral) forces during cornering and heavy front-to-back (longitudinal) forces during braking and acceleration.
• Vibration Reduction: Uses rubber or polyurethane bushings at the frame connection to soften road noise, harshness, and vibrations.
• Steering Articulation: Connects to the steering knuckle via a ball joint, allowing the wheels to pivot and turn smoothly.
